Come fishing, diving and cruising aboard M/V. Ruawaka

Mike & Barbara Austin operate the large roomy catamaran M. V. Ruawaka (Two Canoes) which is 10 metres (33ft) long by 4.460 metres (15ft) wide. The boat has a very roomy cockpit & Mike will take a minimum of 2 people & a maximum of 10 people for fishing, which gives the customer plenty of room on the boat, & a comfortable & stable ride. There is a large comfortable cabin with separate toilet & shower facilities. Ruawaka can sleep 6 people on board for your overnight trip & has a well equipt galley complete with stove, fridge, & freezer. The boat is licenced under Safe Ship Management from North Cape to East Cape, but we mainly operate in the Cape Brett, Whangaruru, Tutukaka & Poor Knights Is. area but cover all of Northland. Fishing trips available from $60:00 per person. M. V. Ruawaka is a great dive boat with plenty of space to put your dive gear on & a shower after your dives. Dive trips with two dives available from $80:00 per person. As well as overnight trips other accomodation options are available.

Mike, who has his Commercial Launchmasters Licence, has been fishing for 50 years, the last 35 years in the Oakura Bay area, operating Oakura Bay Cruises since 1993, after working 34 years for Telecom in a Technical & Tutoring Management position, & is a very knowledgeable person who has the customer at heart, teaching them the art of fishing including baiting the hooks & taking off the fish. We also fillet your fish & smoke them if requested. We never come back without fish, staying out longer if necessary & specialise in targeting snapper, terekihi, hapuka & kingfish.
